First pics of vacation

The kids are still sleeping (they need it, they've been a bit crabby this trip) so I thought I'd post a few more pictures.

Kaia really has her own sense of style..... She decorated herself.

Yes, that life jacket does say "ho sports". Seriously??

These two crack me up....

Race Day!

We decided to come up North for a quick trip and combine it with a race. Marty found the Walker "Chase the Police" triathlon and thought it would be a fun one to participate in. He did great despite a near drowning experience (a big guy swam on top of him and held him under water). He finished 15/(450 or so) and was 6th in his age group. His time was 1:15 and the average time for the day was 1:38. Here's a few pictures from the day:

A few pics from last Saturday's bike ride....

Last week the half way point in our bike ride was Red Wing, so we decided to stop there for a cold treat. Marty and I quickly learned how messy kids can be......
Soren found a Sponge Bob pop that he just HAD to have. His hand was red for 2 days, 2 baths and 1 waterslide day after this.....
This is just the beginning...
This doesn't even do the mess justice. You can't see the large amount of it in her hair and the red stripe (her pop didn't have any red in it) running down her forehead!
All this and we were 20 miles from the car so they had to get back into the burley together like this!!

Triathlon Season is in Full Swing!

Triathlon season has begun and the kids and I have managed to hit a few races this season. Here's a few pictures that were taken at Marty's race a couple of weeks ago. He had a great day out there and finished strong. This weekend he has a race in Walker and then Prior Lake the following weekend.

We're always looking for more to join our cheering section so feel free to come and join us at anytime!

Happy Sunday!

This week was a busy one for us so we were excited to spend a little family time together this weekend. Kaia's been a bit grumpy, so we were looking for something to distract her.... so we decided to go on the Cannon Falls to Red Wing bike trail. She screamed most of the way, but Soren was a trooper putting up with her and I think she was somewhat entertained.... The poor little girl is getting some molars so she's been pretty miserable. Hopefully those darn teeth are in soon!!

Today we took out the water slide because it was a beautiful sunny day! The kids wore themselves out and are peacefully sleeping tonight, so I think it was a success!
Nothing like a snack of fresh grapes in the warm sunshine.
Actually there is something better then a snack of grapes.....
Kaia has become our laundry bandit, we throw dirty clothing down and she picks it up and wears it. This time she was trying to wear Mom's running top and socks....ick!

Quick Update

Well, the blog updates have been few and far between, but I think that's a good sign that we're having a busy but good summer. Here's a few pictures taken of the kids recently:

Grandma Carrot came to help us watch the kids while our daycare was closed.

Busy, Busy, Week and Weekend!!

This past week has been filed with lots of excitement for the kids. Grandma Carrot was here during the week and Grandpa Dennis came over the weekend. I will post pictures from this past week over the next couple of days... but here's one to get you started from a birthday party we attended over the weekend:

Happy 4th of July

Today it was raining in the morning so we decided to take a day off of the waterslide. The kids were so tired from the last two days that they slept until 8:30 AM this morning! Wow. Soren's normal routine has been 6 AM lately, so this is a huge improvement.

Today we went to Brooke's house to celebrate her 3 rd birthday. On the way over to her house Soren started to point, yell and then started to cry. He said "it's red, it's red, you were supposed to stop." He saw a stop sign on the side road and thought it was for us. Apparently he knows what a STOP sign is and was very worried that we missed it. I see a backseat driver in our future....

Here's some pictures from last night and today:

Last night the kids got their first Root Beer Floats-- they loved them!

Kaia ended up shirtless, because she was really getting into hers.
Since we were already shirtless we just let her go in the swim diaper, but she insisted that we get her, her shades!
Today Soren and I made a flag cake. I use a can of diet sprite instead of eggs and oil, so if you ever ask him how to make a cake he'll tell you that "you just dump the pop in and stir" and he's correct :)

Using pop instead of eggs also makes the batter safe to eat, so I let him lick the spoon.
Kaia was in timeout and was sad so Soren went to sit with her.
Here's the flag cake that Soren and I made!
Soren enjoyed eating the flag cake too!
Marty got "snaps" for Soren. These were his fireworks for tonight. He thought they were awesome. He got so excited that he wiped out on the driveway and has a pretty nasty cut on his toe. He shook it off and continued to do his snaps. We can see the Lakeville fireworks from our front lawn so once they started we decided to wake him up to show him. He came down to look at them, but decided he was just too tired and wanted to go back to bed.

Happy 4th of July! Thanks for reading our blog!!

Summer Fun

We had another wonderful day by the water slide today. Kaia got a little more brave and even made it down the slide a couple of times on her own! We even had a deer walk through our backyard a few feet from us.

Now the kids are watching a movie because they are too tired to do anything. They can hardly move...... we love it! Marty and I enjoyed some time inside the pool with the kids today too.

Soren recruited Kaia to stand at the door with him so we could all go outside ASAP this AM.

Kaia's absolute favorite thing to do is being thrown in the air.....
