Soren's 1st Day of Kindergarten

I haven't blogged in a while and so there's been a little change in plans, Soren went to school.  I guess everything just fell into place and it seemed like it was just meant to be.  We're extremely happy with our decision and so is Soren.  When we told him that he was going to school he started to giggle, laugh and cheer.  He was thrilled.
Soren had a fantastic 1st day of school. I was a little nervous as I was getting his uniform ready because  he didn't want to tuck in his shirt (a requirement for the uniform).  Soren's not much for conformity, but he finally gave in.  We negotiated on the number of pictures I would take and settled on 20.  He was counting and held me to that number, but I was able to sneak in a few extra once we got to school.    He was jumping off of the walls when he got home, he was just so excited.  When I got to the after school program to pick him up he told me he didn't want to leave!
We got a nice note from his teacher telling us about their day and a "welcome family" called us from the school to welcome us and arrange to meet up so we know some faces in the crowd.  I have been vey impressed with the family atmosphere at the school.  It seems like a very special place.

Kaia's 1st day of Stepping Stones

Soren and Kaia are both starting new adventures this year.  The biggest being that they are no longer together 100% of the time. Kaia is going to preschool Tuesday and Thursday afternoons and then the other time she is in a daycare component called Stepping Stones.  She started on Tuesday and came home excited to go again.  She's super excited to have a classroom with 20 kids (she's been looking for more social interaction). We've completed day 2 and she is thrilled to be at her own school.

Wisconsin Dells Rev3 Race

As a part of Marty's race season he picked a race in the Dells.  It was great because we got to turn it into a mini family vacation.  We also got to spend some time with Marty's brothers and family and help JD celebrate turning 4!  It was a family friendly race and they encouraged the athletes to pick up family in the chute to run across the finish line.  Unfortunately Kaia was asleep in my arms so she missed the big finish, but Soren was VERY excited to run in with Marty.  I highly recommend the Rev3 races!!

Soren's Drawings

Soren has really been enjoying drawing lately (we got him a huge set of markers because it keeps him so busy).  This is one of his favorite things to draw….
Angry Birds structures.

Soren's Big Kid Room

We decided that it was time for Soren to move on from his Step 2 bed.  We loved the bed, but thought that it would be great to get him bunk beds.  We removed all of the jungle stuff and went 100% sports theme (the giraffe in the background went away).  Kaia loves the bunk beds, she's trying everything she can to move next door.  Soren lets her sleep in there once in a while, but not as much as she would like!
