Dinosaur coloring

We occasionally let Soren play on the computer at SesameStreet.org-- today he was playing a dinosaur game and "won" a coloring page to print. He was super excited about his dinosaur that he got to color!

Is it time yet?

The kids are super excited to go and meet Mickey Mouse-- so excited that they ask daily if it's time to go yet. So we decided to do an arts and crafts project this morning to help them count down the days. Here's us making our paper chains:

Facebook Status Updates

I realized tonight that I do a lot of facebook updates on the kids. Since not everyone who reads this is one facebook I thought it would be fun to put updates from the past 6 months or so on here. It's kinda fun to see them all together…..

Soren is engrossed in "the Super Nanny" on TV. The question is: who is he getting his tips from, the kids or Nanny? Yikes.

Tonight I told Kaia "Daddy's going to take you up for a bath in the BIG tub!" She was so excited that she just key saying "Big Daddy! Big Daddy!" Not really what I hoped she'd be running around saying...

Tonight I had to explain to Soren that it's inappropriate to take pictures of "himself" with his leapfrog camera….Seriously, at 3? Next he'll be e-mailing them to his daycare buddies...

Soren and Kaia were just fighting over her princesses, he looked at her and said "Kaia, you have two options…" I guess he actually does listen to me.

Soren named our Elf of the Shelf "Popcorn" last year….the problem is that Kaia can't remember his name and keeps calling him poop-corn. Classy.

You'd better hope that Soren doesn't draw your name for Xmas-- tonight he was told me he knew just what to get Daddy--Medicine! Um, no buddy I don't think so.

No Marty, any sled that has "luge style" in the description is not what we're buying for our 3 year old

Should I be concerned that Soren is signing his own made up song "I'm a hooker, I'm a hooker" over and over? He's playing with a hook so I guess it makes sense, but a little alarming.

My 3 year old just used the word "nocturnal" in a sentence correctly...at this rate his vocabulary will outpace mine in about a week!!

Today Soren was talking a million miles a minute and asking for all sorts of things so I told him to "hold his horses." He looked up at me with a puzzled look and said "but they're in my bed, I can't" (he sleeps with 2 stuffed horses).

Trial Run

We're trying to get things organized for our trip in two weeks, so I did a trial run on the new headphones that I purchased. I expected the worst on the plane (based on the last time we flew together) but this is making me very excited!! We might actually make it through this flight!

Dress Up Time

This is what happens when dress up time happens unassisted. Transformer costume on backwards and inside out (except for one sleeve), bob the builder tool belt and the other transformer's mask. Soren never stops entertaining us!

Kaia loves to fly!

Kaia loves it when Marty tosses her in the air.... This kid has no fear!

A day in the life with Soren

Here's a few clips from our conversation with Soren today.

Jill: Soren, I'm so proud that you've been eating healthy and not having very much junk food. The doctor was really happy with you too!

Soren: Then why did the doctor have to shot me? (he got his influenza vaccine today)

Jill: Soren, what are you doing with your leapfrog?

Soren: Ugh, taking pictures?

I then had to explain that we don't use our camera to take pictures of ourselves "down there" and delete some pictures.

This morning Soren was insistent on wearing Kaia's princess shoes to daycare. I said no to that, but told Soren that I'd take his picture instead. Kaia was extremely grumpy about the picture and was pouting as Soren is trying to convince her to smile.....

Kaia's Neb Time

Kaia started to get sick again this week, so she went back on her nebulizer. Kaia's been really good with her medicine, but as we've mentioned many time she's a hoarder…. so when she nebs she needs to have as many toys as possible in front of her. Here she is nebbing while Grandpa Ken keeps her company.

Soren's Masterpiece

During the last couple of weeks we've been taking advantage of our gym membership and the daycare that's available while we work out. Soren enjoys playing on the computers and coloring while he's there. This weekend he brought home this picture of "people" for us. Isn't it adorable?

Kaia's 2nd Birthday!

We had an excellent day today! Grandma Karen and Grandpa Dan were here this morning to play with us and the kids. After the kids' nap we took them to the pool and then after the pool we headed to the Mall of America Rainforest Cafe. We hadn't been there for a while so we weren't sure what Kaia was going to think of the whole thing….. but it turns out that she's in love with the place. Marty kept calling her Jane Jr. (after Jane Goodall). She was so amazed by the Gorillas that each time they began to move she needed to have her high chair moved over to see them. She would completely stop moving and stare at them. If you attempted to talk to her while the Gorillas were "acting" she would give you a very stern look-- no interrupting the Gorillas! We even topped off the evening with the "volcano!" It's a large chocolatey desert with ice cream and fire.

Soren was super excited about the free crayons (yes, it's been a while since we've been out to eat). He was also excited that he got a Curious George book to color.

All the servers singing "Happy Birthday" to Kaia. She was more thrilled with this then the picture shows :)

Happy 2nd Birthday Kaia!

Kaia turns 2 tomorrow, but we had her birthday party today. It was a very small party, but we had tons of fun!!
